Well, it seems as if all my goals have fallen by the wayside as I continue to edit and rewrite my plant book. That and look after the household and kids. It seems like I'm working all day, every day and I'm still afraid that I won't meet the end of the month deadline for edits/rewrites. It doesn't help that this coming week is March break so I have one child home full-time. And my husband is out of town so I have to do all the meals, look after all the pets (and there are 12 of them!) and try to stay sane for 10 days. Okay, now that that's out of the way... I am enjoying reconnecting with the plant book in such an intimate way. I love looking through my photos for better illustrations of the plant in question. It takes me on a journey back to Nunavut, the land that I love and left in September. Good thing I am enjoying the process or it would be driving me crazy!
I don't know how people juggle more than one WIP. I miss writing new stuff but I just can't manage it while doing this editing. At least I am still reading before bed and writing in my journal. And I had a poetic moment the other day - but nothing concrete resulted. I am still processing.
I hope you are all continuing with your goals!!
You are doing the hard stuff, editing and rewriting. If the other things fell off the list they weren't supposed to get accomplished yet. Your plant book will be better for it:) Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement Ali!!
DeleteLike you, I can't write anything new when I'm editing and rewriting. They use two different mindsets. How is the plant book coming along? Do you have a timeline for finishing. Enjoy the ten days with the kids and pets...it won't last forever!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne, the plant book is due at the end of March. I'm not yet at the halfway point I don't think. Thanks for the encouragement!!
DeleteI'll be honest. It is okay for your goals to fall by the wayside for a bit. More important things can come up in life. As a writer you are learning to juggle all sorts of different things. Believe in yourself and be honest with yourself about what you can do. Don't feel guilty cause your writing isn't your number one priority right now. You are doing a great job with what you have going on. Do your best and keep up the good fight. :D
ReplyDeleteAs for the plant book being done by the end of March. The month is not over yet. You may find things still work out for it to get done by the end of the month. Just have a little faith.
